When we examine our deepest (mostly unconscious) motivations, we will typically discover our primary motivation is one of avoidance; which honors the question, "What am I avoiding?" This is a good place to start, in terms of inner seeking of truth. We come to realize or discover in our own experience, at the root of all motives is a fear of death - driving motivation to avoid the inevitability of 'death.'
Yet, what is death? More deeply, "Who is avoiding the notion of death?" At this level of 'truth seeking' fear of death is a fear of losing ones perceived image of his/herself which they have mistakenly adopted and identified as, 'myself.' In other words, the mind and body which you currently 'think' you are - is in fact - not your true self.
Since Rupert has realized (in his own direct experience - not from a book, belief, or concept), he primarily speaks and directs others towards seeing beyond mind that fear of death is only an illusion manufactured by mind - mind as impermanent processes.
